要口语化一点的话，其实也不用再特别翻译“机会”和“指导”了。
I really wish that I could study under him.
（不过，这样的句子也有可能带有这样的语气：“可惜，若当初我有机会得到他的指导就好了。”）

如果想强调一点说这一个请求的话：
I really wish that I can study under him.

带给人的语气还要视乎你的上下文。只要连同语气上来看翻译没有带来意思上的误导的话，就达到沟通目的了。本回答被网友采纳
