My hopes crumbled to noting.
crumble的意思是崩溃粉碎，用这个词说明满心期待却落空，比用come这个词更具感情色彩。
也可以用一个单词disapponting.
in vain的意思是突然的无效的，look in vain应该没有期望落空的意思吧，比如We protested in vain.我们的抗议无效。All our efforts were in vain.我们所有的努力全是徒劳。
