Mini-break 小长假
关于假期，
大家最熟悉的单词应该是，
holiday 和 vacation.
但是很多的“假期”，
其实并不用这两个词，
比如“小长假”。
小长假用“mini-break”来表示，
mini-break指历时很短的假期，
像劳动节这种三四天的短假
就可以用mini-break表示。
I’m going to spend my May Day holiday on a mini-break by the sea.
我计划利用“五一”短假去海边玩。
此外，
小长假还可以用
Minor vacation、three-day weekend、
Short break holidays来表示。

这个搭配的意思是：

“我要去欧洲旅行”大家最普遍的说法是” I want to travel to Europe.” 用 travel to somewhere 来表示“到某处旅行”，但是，英语口语中还有一个更加地道的表达为go on a tour of somewhere，比如到欧洲旅行，就可以表示为go on a tour of Europe。
A: Could you tell me the reason for applying for annual leave?
B: I’m too tired. I must take a rest. I’m going on a tour of Singapore.
A: 能告诉我你申请年假的原因吗?

“去某地旅行”还可以用have a trip to somewhere 或者take a trip to somewhere 表示。

休假一天/周
非法定节假日的休假，
也不用holiday和vacation，
而是take a day/week off.

sick leave
因病休假，病假
因病休假，病假，
用sick leave来表示，
或者也叫
sickness pay、sick pay.

Staycation 居家休假
这是一个非正式组合词，
stay+vacation=staycation.
它的含义是，
在家过假期或在国内旅游。
所以，
如果你假期想在家宅着，
