The story in the film happened in 1947, banker Andy in prison which was undeserved, on the moment he get into the prison he was plan to escape from prison, help the warden handle the money laundering make him half the work with double results 。he spent ten years dig open the water pipe passage and break prison successfully which in the eyes of Reed six hundred years was enough,and also took the warden's not tainted money, send the evidence of warden's crime to newspapers, punish the bad guys, redeemed himself.
