1.作助动词.:意思是:“想”、“将要”、“肯”“愿意”例如:I would go with you to Beijing. 我想(或者:愿意)与你一起去北京。
2. will的过去式,即构成过去将来时态,例如:Last Monday, he said that he would visit us the next day. 上个星期一,他说他第二天将要来拜访我们。
3. 表示过去常常做什么,即表示过去习惯性动作,例如:He would go to the classroom half an hour before classes and read English there. 他过去常常在上课前半小时去教室读英语。
4. would 常用于虚拟语气的主句中,表示“如果..., 将会....”, 而实际情况可能并非如此,例如:I would do it if I had time. 如果我有时间,我会做这事。而事实上我可能没有足够的时间做这事。
5. 用于委婉地提出请求,显得礼貌,例如:Would you please help me ? 你可以帮助我吗?
