fall的用法

what a terrible sight!All the trees were cut down,falling on the ground!这句话中的falling 为什么要改为fallen，我觉得falling是trees发出的是主动地，表示现在分词做伴随状语。
还有entering the woods,they found many trees fallen on the ground为什么也用fallen，我只知道fall是非延续性动词，fall的用法到底要注意什么

falling 是现在分词，表示正在进行的动作。
falling on the ground 指的是正在落到地上

fallen 是过去分词，表示发生过的动作。
fallen on the ground 指落在地上了

又如： falling leaves 正在飘落的叶子
fallen leaves 落叶（已经在地上了）

fall是非延续性动词，falling 强调动作的正在进行，即“正在倒下。。。”而fallen则强调动作的结果，即“横卧在。。。”。楼主请再比较the falling leaves（正在飘下的树叶） 和the fallen leaves（落叶）
