求英语翻译：你能告诉我他住在哪里吗？老师说是Can you tell me where he lives？为什么lives后面不加in

这个问题算是很细了，因为where是副词，in是介词，副词是不能用介词来修饰的
如果按陈述语序应该是can you tell me ,he lives where ，如果加个in就变成了can you tell me ,he lives in where，这个在语法上就错了。就像去那边是go there而不是go to there一样

Can you tell me where he lives？
Can you tell me in which he lives？
即使要加in也是加在前面,并且后面跟which 才行
用where 是最贴切的

这个东西当然不能想当然的加个in啊，live in的意思是说住进哪里，而lives本身就已经表达了居住和生活的意思，加上in当然就不对了啊

可是不也有一句话叫He lives in a village.

我想是因为in作为助动词，而助动词后面加名词或名词短语，而你的疑问句以助动词结尾
